  • See-Thru Logs:
See-Thru Gas Log sets are for fireplaces that have openings on both sides (like a fireplace that has an opening facing your den and one facing your dining room). You can also place "See-Thru" gas log sets in peninsula fireplaces (openings on 3 sides). "See-Thru" log sets are "finished" on all sides so they look very nice from any angle. Standard gas log sets are only "finished" on the front side.

    Vented Gas Logs:
Vented Gas Logs must be installed in a fireplace with a fully functional chimney, to draft the smoke and combustion gases from your home. These log sets have been available for over 50 years and are still the most popular. Vented logs are the logs that most resemble a realistic wood fire. They use an open damper, which limits heating efficiency. Just like burning a wood fire, most heat escapes the chimney and only a small amount is returned to your home. Vented log sets are more flexible. Logs can be repositioned according to preference.

    Vent Free Gas Logs:
Vent Free (also known as non-vented, unvented or ventless)Gas Logs do not require a chimney. They keep 99 percent of the heat produced in your home, and are very efficient as a primary heat source. All of our vent free logs are equipped with an ODS (Oxygen Depletion Sensor). This device cuts the flame off if the oxygen level in the air drops below a safe level. (This situation is very rare) Vent Free logs cannot be repositioned once they are installed. This is due to vent free log sets having to maintain a complete clean burn which requires the logs to sit on the grate in only one way. Some states (California, Massachusetts, and a few others) require special permits in order to operate non-vented appliances indoors. It is the customer's responsibility to know his or her local codes and limitations.

Vented Ignition Method - Manuel Safety Pilot:
The Manual Safety Pilot lighting method features an included pilot valve assembly you install on your burner. You then have a pilot light that you can keep lit giving you the ability to turn the log set on and off as many times as you want without ever holding a match to the burner. The safety pilot kit has a safety mechanism built in which senses if the pilot light ever goes out and shuts off the gas supply.

Vented Ignition Method - Match Light:
The Match Light lighting method is the basic method featuring no pilot valve assembly at all. All you have to do is place your match or lighter in the fireplace near the log burner and turn on the gas with your key valve already installed near your fireplace. Control the flame height by adjusting your key valve.

Vented Ignition Method - Variable Flame Remote:
The Variable Flame Remote lighting method features an included pilot valve assembly you install on your burner. You then have a pilot light that you can keep lit giving you the ability to turn the log set on and off as well as adjust the flame height, all with the included remote control. The safety pilot kit has a safety mechanism built in which senses if the pilot light ever goes out and shuts off the gas supply.

The safety pilot kit has a safety mechanism built in which senses if the pilot light ever goes out and shuts off the gas supply.

    G4 Burner:
This base model G4 burner is characterized by a single pipe running from left to right within the burner pan. Their are holes in the bottom of the pipe spanning the entire length of it for the gas to come from, providing maximum flame coverage. The silica sand spread over the pipe (vermiculite for LP applications) and the glowing embers atop that add depth to the flame so rather than just one wide row of flames, you get a more realistic flame pattern

    G45 Burner:
The G45 offers the same pipe burner as the G4 but adds a "T" shaped, extra front burner which accentuates front ember presentation and adds even more depth to the flame, while maximizing warmth. With this burner, you will see more glowing embers and a small row of front flames, again adding more realism for your fireplace.

    G46 Burner:
While the G4 and the G45 are the most popular Peterson burners, the G46 burner is growing in popularity because it is certified to ANSI standards, a requirement in some parts of the country. This patented Ribbon Burner Technology System features a control valve with built-in regulator and piezo ignition system. For Natural and L.P. Gas, they are only available in standard configurations - no see-thru sets available. From 40,000 to 65,000 BTUs, available with factory installed manual safety pilot, basic on/off remote control (-11 series) or variable flame height remote (-15 series). Another benefit is that the pre-installed components (pilot kit, ignitor, regulator) are all neatly contained within the angled sides and the rear of the burner system rather than having a bulky pilot kit sticking out of one side or the other!

    G4-SS Burners (Outdoor Stainles Steel):
Any Peterson vented log set that is available with the regular G4 burner is also available with the Outdoor Stainless Steel G4-SS burner. Availble in natural gas and propane, you can finally have just as nice of a log set outside as you do inside. The propane model comes with a pre-assembled manual safety pilot, contained in a stainless steel protective enclosure. It is not recommended to add any of the Peterson manual or remote pilot kits as they are not deisgned to handle the conditions of an outdoor application.
